Computer Languages
Fourth Generation (2 of 4)

In theory, Fourth Generation Languages are 'non-procedural' languages, meaning that the programmer says what they want done rather than how to do it.

A 'procedural' language requires each step in the process of making a cup of coffee to be defined.

e.g. Instructions for making a cup of Coffee:

1) Pour water in the kettle.
2) Boil the water.
3) Add a teaspoon of coffee to a cup.
4) Fill the cup 3/4 full with boiling water.
5) Add milk
6) Stir the contents of the cup with a teaspoon.
