Computer Logic

Logic circuit components are called 'gates'. Logic circuits are used to perform all the internal operations of a computer. Computer logic is based on a branch of mathematical logic called Boolean Algebra (named after the mathematician George Boole).

In this section you will learn about:

  • 'OR', 'AND' and 'NOT' Gates

  • the half adder as an example of a logic circuit

  • the 'NOR', 'NAND' and 'Exclusive OR' Gates
