Topology - Bus (1 of 2)

This type of configuration uses coaxial cable. It has one long cable called a central backbone with short cables (drop cables) attached to it via cable taps which split the electrical signal. The drop cables are then connected to the Network Interface Card.
An alternative way of connecting the computers is to use a number of shorter lengths of cable attached to T-connectors at regular intervals to make up the backbone.
Each T-Connector is then attached directly to the Network Interface Card of a computer.
